Brookside Estate is situated on 13 hectares of land that was previously home to a golf course, which we have regenerated into a 154 lot medium density subdivision across 5 stages of development.
In the highly sort after Whitby area, this development maximises the scenic advantages offered up by the lush, green valley behind and overlooking the Pauatahanui Inlet, out to the ocean. The housing is made up of three- and four-bedroom homes in varying lot sizes.
Sitting along the edge of the inlet, the earthworks included raising the existing land form by three metres at the outset of this project, to protect future housing from flooding. The project team redirected Duck Creek from it’s natural location running through the middle of the land onto a new path, to make way for the land development. Working with local specialists, we were able to maintain the same total length of the creek and ensure it continued to perform as a natural waterway, including the relocation of wildlife into the new section along with all the cobble, algae and lichen to ensure it would survive.
Three bridges provide access over the top of Duck Creek and a walkway runs along the length of the stream to connect this development to the rest of the Whitby community.
